Make sure to remove the seal from the old filter if it doesn't come off with the filter itself. You don't "need" the wrench, but it makes it a lot easier if the old filter is on super-tight. Yours should take about 3.3 qts (that's what mine takes). Like Rowdy said, make sure that old gasket comes off with the filter.
